SPRINGFIELD, MA — For over a decade, Bax & O’Brien, morning hosts on Rock 102 (WAQY-FM), have hosted the annual Mayflower Marathon, and this year we look to continue the tradition. Bax & O’Brien will broadcast for 52 hours from the Basketball Hall of Fame over the three days leading up to Thanksgiving while collecting food donations for the Open Pantry of Springfield. This is a pivotal year for the Open Pantry. With the state cutting funding from the Open Pantry’s annual budget, dozens of Springfield families will be unable to use services that were once part of the Open Pantry’s basic mission. We urge you to tell your friends, your families, and anyone who might be able to able to help that their efforts are needed more than ever before. The outpouring of support from local residents and businesses (including Big Y World Class Markets and Capitol Moving & All Points Mayflower to name just a few) has historically been unprecedented and we hope that support continues in 2008.  Scheduled for this year’s Mayflower Marathon:

Comedian Lisa Lampanelli, Simpson’s Executive producer Mike Scully, Comedian Bob Marley, Tom Sholtz of Boston, Comedian Tom Cotter, Joel McHale host of “The Soup” on E!, Henry Rollins, Comedian Paula Poundstone, Congressman Richie Neal, ESPN’s John Anderson, Comedian Jeff Cesario, Little Steven Van Zant, and many more! The Mayflower Marathon begins at 6am on Monday, November 24th and runs until 10am on Wednesday, November 26th. It takes place in the south lot at the Basketball Hall of Fame, 1000 West Columbus Avenue, in Springfield, Massachusetts.
