When the time comes to make the move from your old home to your new home, you could be setting yourself up for a very stressful experience. Experts say that moving can be one of the most stressful experiences of your life, but it doesn’t need to be.
Tips to Stay Stress Free on Moving Day
Here are 4 tips to follow to make sure that your moving day goes like clockwork.
Make a list!
There are so many things that you will need to think about on moving day that it’ll be impossible for you to keep track of all of them. Take time to sit down and write a list of everything that needs to be done before the move, during the move and once you’ve settled in. Don’t forget to add a celebration right at the end of it!
Make sure your children and pets are taken care of
Naturally, if you have children they will probably want to help with the big day, but it’s probably best that they are elsewhere. Your kids may be excited about moving, but once they realize how long and complicated the process actually is, they will soon grow bored. It’s better for them if they are with friends.
Make sure your pets are taken care of too. It will be traumatic and confusing for them to see what’s happening.
Have you got an ‘essentials’ bag?
The whole packing up, moving and unpacking process is incredibly time consuming, and it’ll take days before everything within your new home is exactly where you want it to be. In the meantime, it will pay you dividends to have all your essentials in one place. Pack a bag with toiletries, medications, cash and maybe even a spare set of clothes.
Make sure you have plenty to eat
If you are helping with the move then you’re going to be using a lot of energy. You will need food, and of course, your fridge is likely to have been unpacked and all your cabinets will be bare. Why not load up a cooler with food so when you do feel a bit hungry you’ll have a go-to place for something to dine or snack on.
