Hike To The Mic
Celebrate Father’s Day and the Summer Solstice at The Hike to the Mic event on June 21st. Scheduled to be held from noon until the sun sets, hike over to the Heublein Tower for live musical entertainment, food vendors and plenty of fun for the whole family. There will be a lineup of several different musical groups for entertainment and food from pizza and noodles to ice cream. This event is free, but donations are suggested and will benefit the Friends of Heublein Tower.
Dinner At The Avon Library’s Farmer’s Market
Every Monday this summer from July 6th through August 31 starting at 4 pm until 7 pm, find fresh produce, pies, baked bread and chicken for dinner at the Avon Library’s farmers market in the library parking lot. This summer, you can catch free live music on July 13th at 7 pm and again on August 10th at 7 pm. Each week features local authors, and books will for sale in the Author Tent. Lake Compounce Crocodile Cove
Plan to visit more than one day if you want to hit all the attractions at Lake Compounce Crocodile Cove. Located just a short drive from Farmington, the entire family will be fully entertained at this amusement park. The park features water rides, roller coasters, thrill rides, and several kiddie rides. Several shows are featured and include Captain Hook and an adventurous story of buried treasure, and the Funky Fairy Tales show. Every weekend this summer from July 4 through August 24, you can catch the laser light show that features a 50-foot water wall with projections and synchronized music. This Illuminate the Night event is new this year at the park’s lake and is a must-see! Stroll the park and enjoy live music and over a dozen eateries that serve everything from tacos and BBQ to ice cream and snacks. Lockers and season passes are available for enthusiasts and here’s a tip for those who like to relax, consider renting a private, shady cabana for the day!
Farmington River Trail
Built on the former Central New England Railroad, this nearly 15-mile paved trail attracts bikers, walkers, dog walkers, runners, and skaters. The Farmington River Trail is a scenic, safe and clean trail and provides a shaded route for the hot summer days. Bikers enjoy stopping by local eateries along the trail for a sandwich and dessert, grabbing a drink at a wine bar, and browsing a local antique store along the way. The trail is highly regarded and well-used, so don’t expect to find yourself alone during the summers.
